Photovoltaics
Since spring 2024, we have been able to obtain a large proportion of our electricity consumption directly from our own photovoltaic system.
Heating system
The arcade hotel has opted for an environmentally friendly heating system. A geothermal probe heat pump is used as the main heat generator. Eleven geothermal probes, each 220 m deep, provide a total of 2420 m of geothermal probes, which generate an output of 72 kilowatts. This heat can be used to heat the entire building; only the peak heat demand has to be covered by a gas heating system. This means that the entire hot water requirement is heated up to approx. 43 degrees by the heat pump, with the remaining 10 degrees being supplemented by the gas boiler. All of the hotel’s hot water is heated in two 1000 liter tanks using energy from the ground. The heating costs are reduced to a minimum thanks to the energy-saving measures.
Ventilation
Pleasant, clean indoor air is guaranteed as all hotel rooms are equipped with comfort ventilation. This heat recovery system recovers 90% of the ventilation loss. Fresh outside air is blown into the rooms and extracted in the bathroom. The windows can therefore remain closed.
Cooling
In summer, our hotel rooms are cooled by the underfloor heating thanks to the geothermal probe temperature. The water, which is approx. 16 degrees cooler in the ground, is fed to the underfloor heating and cools the floor of the hotel rooms.
